So August has been the busiest month ever for me! Rock and River camp for two weeks...then hiking the Appalachian Trail and Canoeing the Shenanodoah River! So... wondering (biking) around Corolla I stumbled upon this amazing sign! Last year this adorable coffee shop opened called The Shack... and now Matt (owner/bartender) built the coolest beer garden I've ever seen. All of the furniture was brought back from one of his surfing trips in Indonesia. The bar is a work in progress he says, only serving awesome bottled beers right now, he will eventually add wine and cheese. If your in the area.. you love beer, being outdoors, awesome natural wood furniture, and really really really cool down to earth people.. this is your spot. I think we sat there for 6 hours talking to the locals and just having great conversations. Well Done Matt!

Hiking with my adorable nephews today in Harpers Ferry was awesome. We were crossing over this wooden bridge and as the boys were peering into the river, I asked them to turn around and give me a big smile... this is what I got. They immediately started striking a pose! Ha!!! I loved every second of it! Lets just say... I'm starting to think they are getting very comfortable in front of my camera. :)

Lost Pitbull mix puppy in Catonsville, MD!!! Please help find owner!!!

Hey everyone we have another lost puppy in Catonsville. A friend of a friend that lives up the street from me found him on Overbrook off of Fredrick Road. Please please take a look at the images below and see if you recognize him. He is just a puppy, he is wearing a black collar, but no tags. We are going to see if he is microchipped, but I wanted to go ahead and get his picture out. He definitely belongs to someone, he looks well taken care of, thin, but healthy. What a great birthday weekend!!! This was a shot that I took after we completed the Warrior Dash. Everyone had to get fire-hosed down to get all the mud that was caked onto our bodies! So awesome! May 5th Pic of the Day! LOST DOG in Catonsville!!!

LOST PUP! WANTS TO FIND HER HOME! PLEASE HELP!

Okay everyone... once again I have found a pup who has lost their owner! I was running on Fredrick Road in Catonsville today and found this pup trying to wonder across the heavily trafficked road. No collar!!! She was right in the Paradise shopping center where the pizza hut, chinese food place and hair place is and across the street is Lucky 3 and the paradise tavern. A bit timid at first, but I was able to run into the hair salon there and ask them if they had any food to lure her with. So apparently she loves chips!!! So I was able to get ahold of her and carry her home. Well first, I took her by the Paradise Vet to see if anyone recognized her and left my information, but so far nothing. , but I can tell she definitely has a home.

How to help your pets with Spring allergies

Spring is just around the corner -- a time when many of us simply dust off the neti pot or load up on Benadryl in preparation for allergy season.

It's a little harder for dogs and cats with environmental allergies to avoid the elements. Fortunately, our experts offer cool tips to help keep hot spots and other problems at bay during allergy season.

Itchy pets are hard to ignore. "We'll hear owners say 'they kept me up all night because every five minutes they were chewing, chewing, chewing,'" said Dr. Andrea Dunnings, owner of East Atlanta Animal Clinic, who notes an increase in pets with skin allergies this time of the year.

Allergy symptoms in dogs can include excessive licking, redness ("hot spots") or hair loss.

Dr. Drew Weigner, a board-certified feline veterinary specialist and owner of The Cat Doctor in Atlanta, says that few cats actually suffer from seasonal allergies; they simply sneeze more due to physical irritation from pollen.

But cats with true allergies will typically show signs of hair loss and have scabs or open sores. Discharge in a cat's ears or excessive scratching also are common symptoms.

Allergy season for dogs and cats can mirror that of humans, so bookmark the pollen forecast in your area and monitor your pets for symptoms.

After tiptoeing through the tulips, Dr. Robert O. Schick, a dermatologist with Georgia Veterinary Specialists, suggests wiping your dogs' paws with a cool towel to remove pollen residue or scheduling a weekly cool water bath. Also, help all the animals (and humans) in your house and avoid tracking pollen into the house by removing your shoes at the door.

Do what you can to reduce the amount of dust in your home by vacuuming carpets well. Focus on your pet's favorite spots in the house such as under beds and near windows. Don't forget to clean window treatments regularly. Dunnings also suggests removing bedding and washing it on a regular basis using a gentle detergent that is free of dyes or perfumes.

Call the vet before raiding the medicine cabinet..
